MARTHA M. HURLEY

    Martha M. Hurley, Ph.D.

    Associate

    Education

Ph.D., Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Princeton University
    A.B., Biology, Harvard University

Dr. Martha M. Hurley is a conservation and wildlife biologist specializing in the biodiversity and biogeography of Mainland Southeast Asia.  Her work to date has included species-level conservation research, multi-taxa biodiversity surveys of under-surveyed regions, the application of biogeography to conservation recommendations, and improving the digital distribution of data, publications, educational materials, and other resources to international conservation workers.

In addition to peer-reviewed publications, Martha is a co-author of “Vietnam: A Natural History,” an award-winning, accessibly written volume compiling information on Vietnam’s wildlife and conservation. She has developed museum exhibits and educational materials and conducted in-country workshops on biodiversity conservation methods. Throughout this work she has collaborated with national and international research institutions, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Additional research interests include behavioral aspects of bird movement, game bird biology, and conservation and behavior.  She has field experience in Vietnam, Lao PDR, Scotland, Tanzania, Costa Rica, and Belize.
