    B.A., International Development and Rural Development Sociology, University of Guelph.

    Malcolm studied International Development and Rural Development Sociology, at the University of Guelph, before being recruited by, and joining a police service in Ontario Canada. Malcolm has also completed extensive training and courses through the Ontario Police College, Canadian Police College and Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.

    Malcolm Wilson is the co-founder of YAPPENDA, “Yayasan Pelayanan Papua Nenda”- a Papuan/Indonesian foundation working to protect, advocate for, sustain and restore the natural environment through empowerment of indigenous Papuans.  Malcolm has also been providing ongoing support to Don Church and Re:Wild’s ongoing efforts to search for lost species in Papua, Indonesia. He was born in Papua, and was raised amongst the Yali tribe who inhabit the Heluk Valley (Yahukimo Region) of Papua. He has since lived, worked and been educated in the Philippines, United Kingdom and Canada. Malcolm speaks English, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Yali (a highland Papuan language). Malcolm is passionate about the environment and social justice issues, with a focus on Papua. Malcolm is on the Board of Directors of the Scott Mission working to address poverty and homelessness in Toronto. Malcolm is currently based in Canada, working for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in National Security. In 2020 he was awarded The Police Exemplary Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada.
