    James Slade is a long-time conservationist now specializing in the field of law enforcement. Having spent the majority of the past 10 years working in Southern Africa, he engages crime prevention strategies with a holistic approach, working together with local partners and authorities to create area specific solutions. One of James’ primary focuses is on the role of the field ranger, ensuring effective management and welfare of front-line conservationists. He has previously worked for the Cheetah Conservation Fund, International Anti-Poaching Foundation and the Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit, with which he continues to serve as technical advisor. James is a professional member of the Game Rangers’ Association of Africa.

    James’ extensive field experience includes operations management and efficiency evaluations, training, wildlife crime scene investigations/ballistics recovery and the use of SMART conservation software for effective monitoring and data collection. He aims to use this experience together with GWC’s science-driven approach to conservation to ensure a high standard of wildlife crime prevention solutions around the globe.
