GWC’s Leeanne Alonso joined 14 other myrmecologists (ant experts) to help teach the annual Ant Course, this year held in Kibale Forest, Uganda. Thirty students from around the world gained experience in ant collecting methods and learned to identify African ants to genus and species. An amazing 61 genera were recorded, with several rare species found by students. Check out the course website for photos of some incredible ants and stories from the course participants. Next year’s Ant Course will be in the lowland Amazon of Peru.
